Mark Reading-Smith
Senior Researcher/Editor
Mark Reading-Smith is the Senior Researcher/Editor at the Fund for Independence in Journalism. He recently graduated from Michigan State University with bachelor's degrees in International Relations and Political Theory. In 2002, he served as an intern at the Center for Public Integrity and conducted research for their national best-selling book, The Buying of the President 2004.
Jeanne Brooks
Managing Director
Jeanne Brooks is the Managing Director for the Fund for Independence in Journalism. Previously working for the New Hampshire Commission on the Status Women, among other projects Jeanne assisted the work of the Women’s Prison Project, including research for the publication of Double Jeopardy: A Report on Training and Educational Programs for New Hampshire’s Female Offenders. A graduate of the University of New Hampshire, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.
Matthew Lewis
Researcher/Editor
Matthew Lewis is a Researcher/Editor at the Fund for Independence in Journalism. He recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with bachelor's degrees in Journalism and Political Science. In school, Matthew founded and edited a popular website for college sportswriters, The Heptagon, and worked for publications including The Wisconsin State Journal, Scout.com and Rotowire. He has also contributed to The Badger Herald, Curb, Madison Commons, The Vanderbilt Hustler and Vanderbilt Sports Weekly.

The Office of Broadcasting News, with close supervision from the White House, began to produce narrated feature reports promoting White House policies while highlighting government achievements. The State Department has produced 59 of these segments since 2002.26
